Refining India June 2026 Issue

Conclusion While there is still a place for the mechanical filter in today’s refining

sector, the electrostatic separator offers significant profitability and operational advantages over mechanical filtration for slurry oil clarification, especially at larger scales. There are notable advantages over mechanical filtration for slurry oil clarification, particularly in terms of product purity, oil yield, and reduced Opex. Refineries aiming to access premium markets and maximise profitability should strongly consider evaluating today’s options for clarification beyond upfront capital cost. The ability to recover more valuable products, reduce ongoing costs, and produce consistently cleaner oil makes the selection of the right clarification technology for modern refineries a key decision in maintaining a positive bottom line.
