Refining India December 2025 Issue

proposed by KBR in October 2024. The performance guarantee test run (PGTR) of the reformate splitter column was conducted on February 7 and 8, 2025 in the presence of KBR personnel. All performance parameters were met satisfactorily during the PGTR. A summary of the performance guarantee and PGTR results is provided in Table 1 . Distill-Max enabled a significant improvement in column performance. Key highlights are as follows:  Improved product quality (of all three streams) achieved.  Robust column performance provided operating flexibility to the refinery.  Existing reformate splitter column is reused.  No change in cooling/condensing network.  Cumulative benefits to the refinery translated to approximately $30 M/yr.  Revamp payback is approximately six months. The plots of benzene content in heavy reformate versus feed rate are depicted in Figures 3 and 4 for pre-revamp and post- revamp during normal operation. They show that the benzene content in the heavy reformate is significantly reduced from approximately 2.25 wt% to around 0.4 wt%, even at higher throughput after the revamp. Conclusion Distill-Max is an established DWC technology that provides a cost-effective, flexible, and energy-efficient solution for a wide range of multi-component separation requirements in both grassroots designs and revamps of existing conventional distillation facilities.

HEAVY METALS SHOULDN’T WEIGH YOU DOWN

START INCREASING PROFITS NOW

Gulftronic ® Electrostatic Separators are significantly more efficient at removing heavy metals from slurry oil when compared to mechanical filtration systems. Greater efficiency means maximum per barrel returns from FCC/RFCC and hydrocracking, with lower operating costs. The result is a higher yield and a better return from the bottom of the barrel.
